Title: Credit Analyst
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Type of Contract: Full-time
Job Purpose:
- As a Credit Analyst, your primary responsibility will be to assess the creditworthiness of clients, evaluate credit risk exposure, and support lending activities. You will play a crucial role in approving or rejecting loan requests, helping to minimize bad debts and enhance loan revenue.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive credit assessments of clients, international trade, and corporate finance transactions. This includes analyzing financial statements, researching industries, evaluating market conditions, and assessing credit risk exposure.
- Review loan applications, recommend appropriate terms and conditions, and provide credit approval or decline recommendations.
- Monitor the credit quality of existing clients, perform periodic reviews, and suggest risk mitigation actions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal credit policies.
- Maintain and update comprehensive credit files and documentation for each transaction on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with commercial units on joint calls to discuss credit transactions and monitor customer performance and risk profiles.
- Prepare weekly portfolio reports for credit review meetings and compute weekly PAR (Portfolio At Risk) reports, including product, partner, and overall credit PAR analysis.
- Develop and utilize spreadsheets and models to support the analysis of new and existing credit applications.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Credit Lead.
Requirements – Special Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience as a Credit Analyst in financial services, an investment firm, or a bank.
- Knowledge of credit risk management, fraud management, loan recovery, and debt management.
- Understanding of credit risk management in the agricultural sector is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with relevant credit/finance-related software.
- Solid understanding of lending procedures.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
