Title: Credit Risk and Monitoring Officer

Location: Wuse 2, Abuja (FCT)

Employment Type: Full-time

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive guidelines for monitoring and managing information related to existing exposures to facilitate well-informed decision-making.
  • Review customer files meticulously to ensure the completeness of all required documentation and security documents before granting credit availment.
  • Track and compile credit information for all involved parties in the credit creation process, enabling effective monitoring of credit exposure and credit portfolio performance.
  • Evaluate the credit quality and performance of existing exposures, categorizing them according to the organization’s guidelines.
  • Continuously monitor borrowers’ adherence to credit terms following disbursement.
  • Develop and implement an early warning system to identify and report signs of deterioration, irregularities, and non-performance in credit facilities.
  • Establish and maintain a system for identifying loans due for repayment and promptly communicate this information to relevant business units for customer follow-up.
  • Monitor and track loan repayments.
  • Generate reports on credit exposure categorized by risk grade.
  • Ensure that problematic credits undergo regular review and monitoring, submitting progress reports on such credits to senior management in a timely manner.

Credit Applications:

  • Process credit applications and provide recommendations, highlighting any pertinent risk issues related to the credit decision.
  • Justify credit decisions through both verbal and written communication.
  • Provide initial feedback on prospective and existing customer requests to dealers and Account Relationship Managers.
  • Offer constructive feedback on the work produced by fellow Credit Risk Analysis team members.
  • Ensure swift processing of credit requests and maintain an updated Credit Application Status Log on a daily basis.

Compliance and Audit Readiness:

  1. Contribute to the compliance and audit readiness of the Credit Risk Analysis team by ensuring:
  • All customer and internal correspondence meets high-quality standards.
  • Files, paperwork, and systems are maintained in accordance with organizational requirements, formats, and standards.
  • Adherence to a clear desk policy and familiarity with GDPR regulations.
  • Preparation of annual credit reviews and review date extension requests before expiry.
  • Comprehensive product and portfolio knowledge is acquired and maintained.
  • Strict adherence to credit and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • Diligent handling and timely response to regulatory and audit requests/queries.

Credit Portfolios:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of your client portfolio from every angle.
  • Monitor the risk associated with client portfolios to ensure they align with the Credit Policy and the Risk Appetite Statement.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Candidates should possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree, and a Master’s Degree in relevant fields is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions.
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in presenting information and managing relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience in communicating with senior leadership.
  • Attention to detail, commitment to quality, and accuracy in work.
  • A drive for continuous improvement and a proactive approach.
  • Demonstrated interest and proficiency in financial modeling.

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience using Credit Risk Management systems/packages.
