BFREE – Over 300 million consumers in developing economies are over-indebted; we are assisting them in becoming B(e)FREE of debt since being in debt stinks. BFREE was created in 2020 by digital lending professionals who were dissatisfied with developing market credit collection infrastructure. We are currently redefining credit collection step by step, backed by top African Venture Capital firms, to make the process more effective, scalable, and user-friendly, while giving clients back control over their financial health.

Job Responsibilities
- Collating and mailing, faxing, and emailing invoices and statements.
- Copy, file, and collate a/p, payroll.
- Completion of tasks finance on month-end close/quarterly-end close checklist.
- Update and maintain various spreadsheets.
- Liaise with external accountants on various other tasks
- Provide support to external auditors
- Assist with payroll.
- Review of monthly commission calculations, after its preparation by responsible process owners and discuss/ ensure correction of any errors before payment is processed by finance.
- Ensure execution and efficiency in the execution of the various tasks outlined on the month-end close checklist.
- Remain the main point of contact for finance matters in Nigeria
- Maintain and manage office administrative expenditure together with BFREEs admin.
- Maintain, verify and rectify customer balances in accounts receivable records.
- Ensure employee expenses are supported with receipts, a valid business expense, within BFREE’s approved reimbursement policy and uploaded timely for reimbursement
- Correspond with clients having long overdue and delinquent balances.
- Check and verify vendor bills before making payment advice.
- Maintain and ensure the accuracy of our fixed asset register. Includes follow-up with responsible process owners
- Liaise with the local bank when directed
- Reconcile bank records with bank statements.
- Integrate administrative and finance/accounting functions smoothly.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head of Finance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
- CPA or other related certification is a plus
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Two to four years of related experience and/or training Education and/or Experience
- Big 4 experience, is a plus

- Ability to write detailed information into system and correspondence as necessary
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret the client files
- Ability to respond effectively and sensitive to clients, showing respect
- Ability to understand and calculate payments for collections
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain high level of confidentiality
- Able to work under stress, in a high pace environment, which includes various deadlines
- Understanding of basic spreadsheets, Google docs, Local GAAP mandatory
- IFRS Principles, Quickbooks and Expensify knowledge, is a plus
- Ability to learn and work proprietary software
- Willing to work overtime, only as requested by Head of Finance
- An entrepreneurial mindset is highly desired!
