Initiated by the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), and funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) in 2017, the PIC was launched in October 2021 after the success of the interim Policy Innovation Unit (PIU). We provide evidence-driven, contextually relevant, and sustainable solutions to development issues through Behavioral Diagnostics, Human Centered Design, and Sustainable Delivery.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Finance Intern

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Internship

Job Description

  • The Finance Intern will support the Finance department in managing the financial activities of the organization.
  • This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial management within the NGO sector.
  • The intern will assist in day-to-day financial operations, budgeting, reporting, and ensuring compliance with the organization’s financial policies.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations Support:

  • Assist in processing invoices, payments, and receipts.
  • Support the reconciliation of bank statements and other financial records.
  • Help maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ledgers.
  • Assist in managing petty cash and tracking expenditures.

Budgeting and Reporting:

  • Participate in the preparation and monitoring of project budgets.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the analysis of financial data to identify trends and variances.

Compliance and Audit:

  • Help ensure that financial transactions comply with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of documents and data for audits.
  • Support in maintaining compliance with donor requirements and reporting obligations.

General Administrative Support:

  • Assist with filing, data entry, and document management within the Finance department.
  • Provide administrative support during financial meetings, including minute-taking and follow-up on action items.

Learning and Development:

  • Engage in training and capacity-building activities as part of the internship programme.
  • Gain exposure to various aspects of financial management in the NGO sector.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of local tax laws and financial regulations applicable to NGOs.

Salary
N70,000 – N150,000 / Month
