About the role

  • This is an exciting opportunity to join the Programme Quality team and CA more broadly, to lead and strengthen Christian Aid’s programme practice and knowledge in relation to our organisational thematic priority on Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Protection.
  • A key purpose of the GBV technical adviser is to bring highly specialised thought leadership as well as practical technical advice on GBV to apply to programme / project cycle, resource mobilisation, policy and programme quality more broadly. The Global GBV and Protection advisor, will have strong field experience in developing, supporting, and evaluating the impact of programmes geared at improving knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding GBV prevention and response in international development and humanitarian settings. With strong field experience gained in international development and/or humanitarian contexts, the role demands a specialist who will bring strong technical and practical GBV prevention and response programming knowledge and spirit of collaboration and partnership principles.

About you

  • Qualification in gender studies, International development, Humanitarian response or related field.
  • Extensive in country experience designing and implementing GBV programming in emergencies and/development contexts.
  • Demonstrated ability to create curricula and training manuals, with direct training and facilitation experience.
  • Strong track record in a technical advisory role, and proven ability to produce demonstrable results
  • Proven knowledge and experience of designing and implementing community mobilisation and social norm change methodologies.
  • Experience with monitoring and evaluation of GBV and/or Protection programmes.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable population groups and community and traditional leaders.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, including proven success communicating in challenging and cross-cultural contexts.
