Job Title: Group General Manager (Projects)

Locations: Abuja (FCT) and Lagos

Job Description

  • Our client is seeking a highly experienced and driven Group General Manager, Projects to lead the successful implementation of various projects.
  • The ideal candidate will oversee project planning, design, construction, logistics, procurement, and budgeting, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness across all projects.
  • The role requires strategic leadership, technical expertise, and a collaborative approach to manage internal teams and external stakeholders effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end project planning, execution, and coordination across multiple projects.
  • Manage technical aspects, ensuring all project designs, construction, and logistics meet the company’s quality and cost expectations.
  • Implement strategies that enhance productivity and project efficiency, delivering projects within the cost baseline.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements for all projects.
  • Coordinate between all project stakeholders, addressing bottlenecks and ensuring smooth communication.
  • Track project milestones, adjust workflows, and allocate resources as needed to ensure timely completion.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, resolving issues that may affect deliverables.
  • Oversee construction progress, ensuring worker productivity, safety compliance, and quality control.
  • Manage contractor relationships and address any contract disputes to minimize project disruptions.
  • Lead meetings with clients and stakeholders, providing updates on project progress and challenges.
  • Implement effective reporting systems to monitor project performance and provide insights to executive management.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Profit margins and cost predictability.
  • Project completion timelines vs. baseline schedules.
  • Compliance with project quality and safety standards.
  • Risk management and defect rectification turnaround times.

Financial and Staff Responsibilities:

  • Ensure on-time invoicing and effective use of company assets.
  • Maintain expenses within project budgets and drive increased turnover.
  • Supervise and mentor staff and subcontractors, ensuring high-quality work and resolving issues as they arise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a similar field.
  • Project Management certification(PMP, PMI) is a must.
  • Minimum 20 years of cumulative experience, including at least 10 years in a senior management role (preferably in Nigeria).
  • Proven track record in engineering project management within dynamic and fast-paced environments.
  • Strong financial and commercial management exposure.
  • Excellent client relations and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve technical issues swiftly.
  • Knowledge of industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborative leadership style, with strong teamwork and mentorship capabilities.
