About the Role
- Evaluate the organization’s policies, procedures, products and programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Advise the Board CEO and Senior Management on all legal and compliance matters affecting the organization’s operations and governance including legal review and operational decision-making.
- Prepare, review and advise on MOUs, SLAs and all forms of contractual agreements between the bank and other parties.
- Prepare Legal opinions and advise on General legal issues.
- Provide advice on contentious and non-contentious matters affecting the bank.
- Review, investigate and authenticate securities offered as collateral for credit.
- Supervision of registration and custody of credits securities, property titles and legal documents
- Preparation for Board meeting documentation and sundry tasks.
- Monitoring of compliance with applicable laws and regulations across the organization’s operations.
- Negotiation, drafting, reviewing and execution of contracts and agreements on behalf of the organization.
- Consistently liaising with external counsel of file regulatory returns with regulators such as CBN (Central Bank of Nigeria) and NDIC (Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation)
- Initiate and replay legal correspondences.
- Represent the Bank in court and work with external solicitors to ensure positive outcome of all cases.
- Any other functions required by the Management will be advised from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law
- Above 5 years managerial experience
- Must be computer literate with added advantage in key Microsoft office package (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Proficient in Banking Software will be an edge.
