1). Health and Safety Officer

Locations: Obajana, Kogi

Job Summary

  • Participate in implementing the DCP approved occupational safety program, analysing and administering various components of the safety programs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement approved safety plans and programs in the Plant and monitor employees’ compliance with safety policies.
  • Support in planning and promoting safety programs and conduct periodic assessments to identify program deficiencies.
  • Assist in conducting safety drills at the Plant, in line with approved schedule.
  • Evaluate hazardous conditions and recommend engineering controls, administrative controls, and/or use of personal protective equipment.
  • Perform or assist with accident investigations as required and ensure prompt communication of recommendations to all concerned parties.
  • Support in the execution of approved corrective action to prevent future incidents.
  • Provide information to Compensation Administrators for timely processing of compensation benefits for injured individuals.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of safety activities and accident occurrences, and develop periodic reports to determine safety trends and needs.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of DCP Plants to assist managers and supervisors in environmental, health, and safety compliance.
  • Collect, analyse and maintain data essential for effective safety programs.
  • Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with other employees, officials, external organisations, and representatives of Local, State, and Federal agencies.
  • Participate in the conduct of basic HSE induction exercises for Plant employees, contractors and visitors.

Education and Work Experience

  • B.Sc in Engineering or its equivalent in any science discipline.
  • Membership of relevant safety institute e.g. IOSH and ISPON.
  • Relevant safety training from recognized safety Professional body such as BSC and ISPON.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience.

2). Deputy General Manager, Mechanical (Power Plant)

Locations: Obajana, Kogi

Description

  • The Dangote Group is seeking a Deputy General Manager, Mechanical for its Power Plant operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical maintenance of the power plant and ensuring optimal performance and reliability of equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules for all plant equipment, including gas turbines, compressors, gas generators, gas compressors, DM plant, Chiller, cooling tower and auxiliary systems.
  • Plan and coordinate major overhauls, shutdowns, and inspections.
  • Lead and manage a team of maintenance engineers, technicians, and support staff.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure maximum plant availability and reliability by minimizing downtime and responding promptly to equipment failures.
  • Implement maintenance best practices and modern techniques to optimize plant performance.
  • Prepare and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Monitor and control maintenance expenses while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain safety and compliance standards.
  • Implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and hazards.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and OEMs for procurement of spares, services, and maintenance support.
  • Evaluate contractor performance and ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and performance data.
  • Prepare periodic maintenance reports and present them to senior management.

Requirements
Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 24 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within power plant operations.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of power plant systems, including gas turbines, gas generators and electrical systems.
  • Proficient in SAP System
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance approaches.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in mechanical maintenance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant maintenance management software.

3). Deputy General Manager, Operations (Power Plant)

Requirements
Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 24 years of experience in power plant operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in managing Gas Turbine-based power plants is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of power plant processes, equipment, and systems.
