1). Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer

Job Summary

  • In line with the organization’s decision to ensure key Executive roles are filled by qualified candidates with hands-on experience and leadership skills, our Client requires exceptional individuals with proven track records for the positions of Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
  • Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the business, operations, risk appetite, financial health, and the overall growth of the organization.
  • He/She will serve as the central point of communication with the Board whilst acting as the brand and culture ambassador internally and in interactions with external stakeholders.
  • He/She will be responsible for sustainable revenue generation and expense management within the Group, towards maximizing profitability, and will be required to provide strategic guidance and supervision for the Company’s subsidiaries as integral component parts of the CMHC.

The Role (Strategic Functions)

  • Drive business growth, organizational health, and profitability, in order to grow shareholder value in a sustainable manner, and in line with the approved strategic plans.
  • Lead the development and oversee the execution of the Company’s short., medium-, and long-term strategies.
  • Lead strategic acquisition, investment, and divestment activities for the organization.
  • Formulate and oversee the execution of the organization’s shared services delivery strategy for the subsidiaries.
  • Promote appropriate risk appetite, robust risk management and prudent financial management to ensure business sustainability.
  • Galvanize and maintain positive reputation and brand for the organization through proactive engagement and communication with internal and external stakeholders as the brand ambassador.
  • Drive and monitor the organization’s performance management and communication to ensure optimal motivation and availability of required competencies and capabilities.

  • Provide thought-leadership on the development of the financial markets in Nigeria and across Africa.

About You

  • As the ideal candidate, you will need to be a visionary leader and strategic thinker with a high level of commercial acumen and the exceptional ability to provide strategie leadership and manage internal and external stakeholders.
  • To be successful on this role, you will need to have strong relationships at senior levels with the financial services regulators and track record of negotiating and achieving regulatory buy-in.
  • Also, the ideal candidate should have strong entrepreneurial skills, expert knowledge of capital market value chain, market dynamics, products and services, as well as the financial market infrastructure (FMI) provider business landscape in Nigeria and globally.

Key Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or any relevant field from a reputable institution, with a minimum Grade of Second Class Upper.
  • MBA or Master’s Degree in finance or economics is essential.
  • Relevant finance professional certifications e.g. Associate Chartered Accountant,
  • Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Stockbroker, Capital Market and Securities Analyst/SEC sponsored individual status.
  • Minimum of 20+ years relevant experience in a top tier financial services or capital markets institution, with proven experience as a Chief Executive Officer or Executive Director for at least 10 years.
  • Ability to deliver on set targets and achieve demonstrative results in line with the organization’s strategic aspirations.
  • Strategic thinker with high level of commercial acumen.
  • Good working knowledge of Nigerian financial markets regulation and global best practices.
  • Good knowledge of the role of technology services within the financial markets value chain.
  • Proven understanding of corporate governance regulations and understanding of best practices in risk and finance operations, process improvement and internal controls.
  • Good understanding of approaches/methodologies for developing, Implementing and monitoring marketing strategy, brand management and other related strategies.
  • Proven stakeholder management experience.
  • Proven experience in effectively communicating and taking tough decisions in crisis situations.

2). Chief Financial Officer

Job Summary

  • The Chief Financial Officer, who will be an Executive Director, will be responsible for the financial and strategic direction of the organization.
  • The role holder will be responsible for providing oversight, driving the financial planning, performance, and reporting functions to support the company’s growth and stability.
  • This role is also critical in strategy formulation and monitoring, optimizing profitability, managing risks and ensuring regulatory compliance, while providing actionable insights to stakeholders, and will act as a Centre of Excellence on key corporate areas of finance, strategy, investment, decision support, risk and value Management, amongst others.
  • He/She will also be responsible for ensuring a robust risk and compliance culture is engrained within the Group.

The Role (Strategic Functions)

  • Provide advisory and expert support to the Board and Executive Management on all financial and strategic issues.
  • Develop and execute financial strategies, oversee budgetary planning, and implement capital financing options to support the Group’s Strategie Plan.
  • Cascade financial strategies into effective business plan for its subsidiaries and ensure maximum alignment between organizational objectives and subsidiaries’
  • activities.
  • Develop financial business cases for proposed investments, and ensure the efficiency, profitability and safety of the various Investment Portfolios of the Group.
  • Monitor, review, and direct the implementation of the strategic business plans against set objectives.
  • Establish annual Strategic Objectives, goals, action plans and milestones and assume accountability for the successful implementation of same.
  • Drive the growth (organic and inorganic) plans of the Group.
  • Develop and drive implementation of FMDO’s Sustainability Strategy.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of FMDQ’s Enterprise Risk Management
  • (ERM) Framework.
  • Provide oversight of all risk management activities within the Group and ensure that the full spectrum of risks (in line with the Group’s risk taxonomy) are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory activities, policies and laws for timely identification of new and/or modified compliance regulations applicable to the Group.
  • Implement the Group’s plan for its business premises, business continuity site(s)
  • Facilitate the provision of efficient and effective administrative services across the Group.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key external business advisors and relevant bodies e.g., regulatory organizations, auditors, solicitors and banks, to facilitate effective business operations.

About You

  • As an ideal candidate, you will need to be a strategic thinker with high level of commercial acumen, entrepreneurial skills, and the ability to interpret figures and provide meaningful and actionable insights.
  • A seasoned and innovative finance professional with a proven track record in financial and risk management, project management, regulatory compliance, profitability optimization, leadership and planning & organization.
  • To be successful in this role, you must have a high level of initiative, strong attention to detail, excellent negotiation and influencing skills, and a good understanding of trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations, and legislations relating to a capital market holding company, and the financial markets, in general.

Key Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting, Economics or any other related field, from a reputable University
  • Relevant finance professional certification, e.g. ACA, ACCA, is required
  • MBA or Master’s Degree and other professional qualifications would be an adder advantage.
  • Minimum of 20+ years cognate experience, with at least 8 years in an executive management/C-level position in a similar environment interfacing with the Boar of Directors, Executive Management team and financial partners, among others.
  • Excellent financial management, financial analysis, and financial modelling skills
  • Good knowledge in accounting and financial reporting, as well as applicable regulations and reporting standards e.g. International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
  • In depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices.
  • Strategic thinker with high level of commercial acumen.
  • Good knowledge of the capital and financial markets.
  • Strong understanding of local tax laws and regulatory frameworks.
  • High sense of responsibility, accountability, integrity, and ethical standards.
