Title: Marketing Executive

Location: Ibadan, Oyo

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION

  • To maximize hotel revenue and guest satisfaction by developing and implementing marketing and advertising campaigns; tracking sales data; maintaining promotional materials inventory; planning meetings and trade shows; maintaining databases and preparing reports. The job incumbent should be active, proactive, and achieve results. All work is carried out in line with the hotel’s guidelines, sales business plan, corporate guidelines, service concepts and the hotel’s business plan.
  • Literacy:Must be able to read and write in order to complete Sales and Marketing administration and reporting and deal with Guest registration, correspondence and records. The Employee must be able to comprehend written policy instructions and operating manuals.
  • Numeracy:Must be able to do advanced accounting and mathematical calculations to deal with Sales and Marketing statistical reports, deal with receiving payment in acceptable forms, check Guest folio accounts, calculate rates and discounts, etc.
  • Language:Must be able to communicate verbally in English for the purposes of communicating with Guests and Management.
  • Physical:Must be able to spend lengthy periods of time standing behind a desk and be physically fit to respond to Guests requiring assistance in an emergency situation.
  • Competency: The employee should have prior work experience in specified designation. The employee must be competent in operating a computer and entering data on a keyboard. Competency in operating the Property Management System must be achieved within 2 months.
  • The employee must be able to consistently apply the skills and knowledge requirements of the job position in order to meet and exceed the minimum Guest Service Standards laid down.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

DUTIES:

  • Maximises Hotel Revenue Across Key Customer Segments
  • Develop and implement marketing advertising campaign
  • Update, manage and maintain all online Sales and Marketing campaign
  • Assist the Sales and Marketing Manager achieve budgeted goals by executing sales activities within assigned market segment.
  • Makes applicable number of sales calls per week as assigned by the Sales and Marketing Manager
  • Markets products by developing and implementing marketing and advertising campaigns; maintaining promotional materials inventory; planning meetings and trade shows
  • Manage schedules, file important documents and communicating relevant information to the Sales and Marketing Manager.
  • Assist the Sales and Marketing Manager to ensure own function operates within cost restraints.
  • Maintains effective internal and external communication.
  • Researches competitive products by identifying and evaluating product characteristics, market share, pricing, and advertising; maintaining research databases.
  • Assists the Sales and Marketing Manager to meet budgeted sales and profit margins by soliciting, selling, and confirming business as required.
  • Ensuring the adequacy of sales-related equipment or material are available at all times
  • Responding to complaints from customers and give after-sales support when requested
  • Uses outside sales calls to solicit existing and new guests
  • Assist in the preparation and organizing of promotional material or events
  • Conducts on-site client inspections and entertainment in the absence of the Sales and Marketing Manager.
  • Contacts in-house guests to foster additional business, repeat bookings, or referrals
  • Assist the Sales and Marketing Manager to Coordinate activities related to booked business with other departments
  • Communicates guests’ requests to all departments in an effective and timely manner
  • Attends Brand sales blitz, and/or trade shows in key market cities to develop new business and to contact established clients in these cities.
  • Communicates requests for special accommodation and suites to the Sales and Marketing Manager and other departments
  • Assist in ensuring that all special requests or VIP accommodations accurately Pre-blocked.
  • Ensure all reservations are tracked correctly for statistical purposes
  • Follows up on commissions and other fees paid to travel agencies etc.
  • Liaises with the Accounts Department regarding credit issues
  • § Sales lead to be sent to the Sales and Marketing Manager of the hotel where opportunity exists

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field
  • 2 – 3 years of relevant experience
  • Strong analytical, communication, time-management and creativity skills
  • Strong ability to focus on customer/market and take initiative Experience with social media
