Title: Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) Intern

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of MERL within the nonprofit sector.
  • The intern will assist in designing and implementing MERL frameworks, collecting and analyzing data, and contributing to evidence-based decision-making.
  • This role is a hybrid position, allowing for a combination of remote and in-office work.

Key Responsibilities
Data Collection and Analysis:

  • Assist in designing data collection tools and methodologies.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze data to assess program effectiveness.
  • Prepare reports and visualizations to communicate findings.

MERL Framework Development:

  • Collaborate with MERL specialists to develop and refine program MERL frameworks.
  • Assist in the development of indicators and data collection plans.

Research and Learning:

  • Conduct literature reviews and research to inform program design and improvement.
  • Support the documentation of best practices and lessons learned.
  • Conduct research to identify potential grant opportunities for FeedUp Africa.
  • Assist in preparing grant proposals and reports.

Program Evaluation:

  • Contribute to the planning and execution of program evaluations and assessments.
  • Assist in conducting baseline and endline assessments.

Capacity Building:

  • Participate in MERL capacity-building activities for program staff and partners.
  • Provide training and guidance on data collection and reporting.

Communication and Social Media:

  • Assist in creating engaging social media content from research findings..
  • Assist in producing multimedia content for fundraising and awareness campaigns.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Perform various administrative tasks to support MERL activities.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, International Development, or related field.
  • Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, statistical software).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong communication and digital skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Enthusiasm for MERL work and nonprofit initiatives.
  • Applicants must have access to a laptop.
