1). Consumer & External Relations Manager

Location: Nigeria

The position will drive a brand led communications strategy that positions IFP within the Feed industry as the most preferred business partners and strengthens IFP brands by profiling our work in industry. It will also improve both internal and external communications for the Poultry Feed and Fish Feed BU.

This position will also be responsible for developing strong and meaningful partnerships with agricultural industry associations and businesses and serve as the primary management contact for agriculture industry partners.

Key Deliverables

  • Develop and execute short and long term communications strategies for IFP.
  • Create, implement, and measure success of all commercial communications and public relations activities.
  • Coordinate the use of brand elements across all media and platforms within and outside Olam space.
  • Create and contribute agriculture content (stories!) to corporate publications such as the annual report, magazines, brochures, newsletters, and videos.
  • Manage production of professional level publications and key communications materials including annual reports, newsletters, brochures etc.
  • Leverage on conferences, workshops and events to profile IFP;
  • Take the lead in the planning and implementing of high-profile events for IFP.
  • Support knowledge networks and their members in the production of compelling messages and success stories;
  • Support internal knowledge sharing and profiling of IFP’s work in the industry through the internet.

Strategic Effectiveness

  • Act as the key liaison with development agencies, NGOs, USAID, industrial bodies, all agricultural agencies and parastatals working in the space. Including stakeholders and partners involved in all programs.
  • Represent IFP at programs and present its work nationally and to CRS leadership, the investors, partners and other stakeholders.

  • Support advocacy initiatives by coordinating appropriate audience research, compiling and analyzing relevant data, preparing materials (e.g. films, videos);
  • Draft speeches for senior management team and prepare effective public presentations.
  • Anchor and take lead for all CSRs within IFP and livestock.
  • Data capturing, maintenance and reporting.

Requirements

Must have:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree qualification  in Agriculture, or related field (masters is an added advantage).
  • Relevant qualifications are an added advantage
  • 5 – 7 years’ work experience.
  • Proven working experience in media and communications.
  • Strong interest in livestock and agriculture industry.
  • Ability to manage social media presence for large organization.
  • Excellent client-facing (stakeholders) and internal communication skills with team members and management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with good exposure to content creation – articles/newsleters/vblogs etc.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of Social Networking sites

2). Environment, Health & Safety Manager

The Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) coordinator shall primarily ensure the hatcheries, breeder farms, production farms, warehouses, Admin block and other operational areas are safe in line with the Company EHS policy and ‘Zero Harm Goal’ by providing visible safety leadership, supervision and using relevant safety management system skills/tools.

Key Deliverables

  • Site supervision to ensure compliance with safety standards across site, departments, and work activities. He will drive culture change amongst workers and ensure promotion of safe behaviors.
  • Conduct risk assessments and/or job safety analyses of routine and non-routine operations and advise line managers and/or area owners on safety controls to mitigate risks.
  • Identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions during work activities and address them promptly to prevent workplace incidents
  • Investigate safety incidents (near misses and accidents) and track closure of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Lead, supervise and attend toolbox talks before start of each shift, contribute, and provide support as applicable.
  • Conduct site safety inductions and other relevant safety trainings for staff, contractors, and visitors.
  • Drive safety programs and workers engagement throughout the site.
  • Conduct workplace and equipment safety inspections, including equipment mobilized to site by contractors
  • Issue and monitor compliance with permit-to-work and ensure closure of permit-to-work when work is completed.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly safety reports as required.
  • Ensure PPEs compliance by staff, contract staff and third-party contract staff.
  • Ensure wastes are properly segregated, evacuated and disposed to prevent any potential regulatory or compliance issues.

Organizational Effectiveness

  • Conduct specialized safety training for staff and Line Managers as the need arises.
  • Liaise with Human Resources Department to develop training plan for staff, contract staff and third-party contract staff to improve safety awareness and culture onsite.
  • Monitor safety KPIs trend and communicate trend during reviews.
  • Ensure statutory inspections for lift equipment, fire safety equipment, and pressured vessels are conducted as at when due, and track issue(s) identified with Engineering team for prompt closure.
  • Inspect workplace and work activities, and drive compliance with safety standards.
  • Schedule and conduct internal EHS audits of the workplace and procedures as well as support external audits.
  • Documentation on SAP and tracking of site compliance with safety tools on SAP.
  • Monitor compliance with Olam six safety imperatives and lifesaving rules.
  • Plan and execute emergency drills to test the site’s emergency preparedness and response.
  • Schedule and hold monthly safety committee meetings, prepare and circulate minutes of the meetings and ensure timely implementation of actions raised.

Requirements

  • Degree/HND in environment, health and safety or any engineering and science disciplines.
  • Minimum of 5 years cognate work experience in health and safety management in reputable organization.
  • Possession of relevant professional safety qualifications such as NEBOSH International General Certificate in occupational health and safety is a must.
  • Membership of relevant health and safety professional organizations is added advantage.

3). HR Manager

Location: Nigeria

Engage Line Executives and other key stakeholders in determining business needs and proactively contribute to the development and implementation of strategic HR solutions in collaboration with the Centre of Excellence.

Key Deliverables

  • Demonstrates deep knowledge of the inherent business environment and can provide interventions to business leadership on strategic employee imperatives to maintain competitive edge.
  • Collaborate with the Talent team and Business Line Managers to identify, engage and retain talents within the organization and provide input into career development plans for employees.
  • Analyzes information and data necessary to define and discern cost and policy implications of negotiations and disputes. This may include management and union proposals, pay scales and wages, benefits, working conditions, and other mitigating circumstances.
  • Represents organization in contract negotiations, meetings, and negotiations with employee and labor organizations.
  • Monitor organizational change processes and provide proactive advice to managers and employees to mitigate the risk of industrial disputes and ensure compliance with organizational policies
  • Communicating policies pertaining to Human Resources, compensation, and benefits.
  • Research on labor laws, healthcare regulations, best practices etc.
  • Leading of negotiations between the organization and employees
  • Provide guidance to the business managers on HR policies, ensuring the right interpretation of the policies are applied in managing human resources in the directorate and lead on the development and implementation of new HR policies
  • Oversee the annual implementation and report on entire Performance Management process, results, and ratings.
  • Contribute to the headcount budget process of assigned directorate to ensure optimal staffing
  • Liaise with Business Leaders to analyze trends and HR metrics to develop interventions and human performance programs

Strategic Effectiveness

  • Engage Line Management, investigate related employee issues and challenges, develop, and socialize mitigating options with HR and business management and ensure implementation of solutions in the Line.
  • Engage Line Managers and Training Specialists on training needs identification and gaps based on perceived business imperatives, development of core curriculum content, and ensure the successful implementation of training plan for the employees.
  • Engage Line Executives and other stakeholders in determining business needs and proactively contribute to the development of strategic HR solutions (organization design, change management, talent development, recruitment, compensation etc.) in collaboration with the Centre of Excellence Specialists.
  • Collaborate and provide input with the Talent Acquisition Specialist on Structure evaluation and requirements of role to confirm vacancy is required, business headcount management, make input into new job specifications and adjustments of existing job specifications.

Requirements

  • First degree in Social, Human and or Behavioral Sciences or any other related discipline
  • 8 – 15 years. work experience in a similar role with a large organization
  • Strong IR experience
  • Excellent and demonstrable negotiation / organization skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Suite Skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power-point
