Job Title: Programme Assistant, Democracy and Governance

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • Our client is looking to hire a Programme Assistant (Democracy and Governance). The successful candidate will support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of programmes under the organization’s Women Public-life Participation Component. This role requires strong organizational skills, a passion for gender equality, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities
Programme Support:

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of democracy and governance programs and initiatives.
  • Support the development of program materials, including reports, presentations, and training manuals.
  • Monitor program activities, track progress, and ensure that project timelines and deliverables are met.

Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct research on best practices, policy developments, and trends related to women’s political participation and governance.
  • Compile and analyze data to support program planning and evaluation.
  • Prepare research briefs, summaries, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Event Coordination:

  • Assist in organizing and coordinating events, workshops, and training sessions related to democracy and governance.
  • Handle logistical arrangements, including venue booking, participant registration, and coordination with speakers and facilitators.
  • Support the development of event materials and ensure effective communication with participants.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide administrative support to the programme team, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of programme activities, correspondence, and documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of grant proposals and funding reports.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Support the engagement and communication with programme partners, participants, and stakeholders.
  • Assist in building and maintaining relationships with government agencies, non-profits, and community organizations.

Communication & Outreach:

  • Assist in the development and dissemination of programme-related communications, including newsletters, social media posts, and website content.
  • Contribute to the creation of promotional materials and outreach strategies to raise awareness of the organization’s democracy and governance programmes.
  • Support the communications team with programme communications and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Gender Studies, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in program support, administration, or a related role, preferably within the non-profit, or development consulting space.
  • Experience in event coordination and/or research is an advantage.

Must have skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated passion for gender equality and women’s empowerment.
