Technical Assistant at Benin Electricity Distribution Plc (BEDC)

General Responsibilities:

• To be responsible for providing support to the Managing Director on strategic, administrative and operational matters.
• To provide high-quality and professional secretarial and administrative support.
• To support the goals and objectives of BEDC Electricity Plc.

Activities:

• Scheduling, Tracking, and Taking part in MD’s meetings and answering appropriately to all technical questions, issues and observations;
• Evaluating and advising different courses of action in light of meeting conclusions;
• Following up as necessary after meetings with research and clarifications;
• Assisting and supporting the MD with technical concerns pertaining to matters in the electricity sector;
• Preparing a response to the MD’s major points regarding the electricity distribution industry;
• Preparing pertinent reports, briefs, and outcome notes while taking part in various meetings and tasks that are presided over or attended by the MD;
• Carrying out a range of high-level administrative tasks, such as creating correspondence, taking calls, keeping files organised, making reservations, and setting up meetings;
• Assisting the MD with a variety of responsibilities, including gathering, evaluating, and summarising pertinent data;
• Any other duty as may be assigned by the MD.

Context: The job requires collaboration with other departments and an understanding of technical processes, methodologies and strategies in the electricity sector. The job exists in an Electricity Distribution Company.

Qualifications/Experience/Skills

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, especially in Electrical Engineering;
• Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or related numerical discipline is preferred.

Experience:

• 2 or more years of experience;
• Previous technical assistant experience preferred;
• Willingness to travel within and beyond the operational area
• Pleasant disposition and ability to take decisions with lots of initiative.
• Extensive knowledge of relationship management skills and good oral and communication skills.

Skills:

• Strong computer skills which include: Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and E-mailing tools;
• Possess solid organizational and planning skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
• Must have effective interpersonal skills: Problem-solving, decision-making, negotiation, listening and assertiveness;
• Proficient in report writing and presentation;
• Ability to develop, monitor and review electricity facility project Engineering issues.
• Excellent schedule and time management skills; and
• Must possess strong analytical skills.
