1). Finance Business Partner Lead

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To facilitate periodic performance review sessions (Monthly/Quarterly Performance Reviews)
  • To analyse, report and generate business insights on products, channels, customers, branches and Customer Profitability Reports) in the business areas of oversight.
  • To conduct competitive benchmarking, environmental scanning and analysis to generate business insight and actionable recommendations for performance improvement.
  • To identify and assess MIS issues affecting the business and ensure their timely resolution.
  • To facilitate the implementation and maintenance of an effective MIS (Management Information System) reporting application that is accurate and fair in presenting business performance.
  • To ensure the integrity and completeness of accounts segmentation and ownership.
  • Review, analyze and privide insight on all performance reports/analytics and business insight required to monitor the BU performance, across channels, products, customers, locations etc.
  • Maintain an accurate, creditable and reliable MIS (Management Information System) system for the SBU performance reporting and ensure the integrity of account segmentation & ownership
  • Monitor and review the SBUs performance against budget, historical trend, and competition, provide appropriate insight to support required action and make recommendations for business improvement
  • Deliver all performance reports and analytics required to monitor the BU performance, across channels, products, customers, locations etc.
  • Facilitate periodic performance review sessions in the SBU overseen.
  • Drive and implement perfromance improvement and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Support the SBUs in crafting, defending and cascading their budgets and forecasts.
  • Participate in budgeting exercise to ensure adequate inputs and sensible assumptions by the budgeting team.
  • Support the establishment of clear, fair and measurable performance metrics, targets and accountabilities for all functions in the area of oversight.
  • Facilitate engagements on scorecards and other performance initiatives.
  • Facilitate performance clinic sessions with under-performing Group Heads, Business Development Managers and Business Managers and offer advise and guidance to improve business performance
  • Deliver periodic individual performance reports using Balanced Scorecard framework and resolve all issues arising from Scorecards, MIS and Budget within the BUs
  • Identify and drive processes for efficiency improvement and provide decision support to the Group Executives in the SBUs as may be required from time to time
  • Drive resolution of conflicts arising from scorecards, MIS, expense control, budget of SRF/SBUs
  • Engage Executives, Heads of Departments, Group Heads, Business Development Managers on their scorecard and performance issues and supervise all other individual scorecard engagements and resolutions.
  • Facilitate enlightenment/training sessions on scorecards and other performance initiatives.
  • Facilitate inter-departmental engagements between SBUs and SRFs as may be required to drive business process efficiency or performance improvement
  • Identify and implement process effectiveness and efficiency improvement initiatives
  • Act as Head of Department in the absence of Head, Business Performance Monitoring
  • Maintain the Security of all Information entrusted to the staff.
  • Any other responsibilities as may be assigned by Head, BPM.

Job Requirements
Minimum Education:

  • First Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Science or Engineering.
  • Master’s Degree / Professional Certification in Accounting or Finance (FCA, CFA or similar professional qualifications).

Minimum Experience:

  • Experience in MIS (Management Information System).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite and leading analytics tools, SQL, etc.
  • Experience in Finance or Accounting.
  • Minimum of 17 years relevant experience, in MIS, Finance or accounting role, including at least 7 years in a similar managerial role.

2). Team Lead, Corporate & SBU Strategy

Job Description

  • Lead the development and communication of the strategy for the (Commercial) Banking Group. This includes, but is not limited to, developing an overall corporate strategy and assisting in cascading it down for every (Bank) Strategic Business Unit (SBU), Strategic Resource Function (SRF); and subsidiary.
  • Play a leadership role in developing and communicating the Business Unit’s strategies for all the Bank’s SBUs i.e. Retail Banking (Lagos, South and North), Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, Public Sector Banking and Treasury & Financial Institution; ensuring that SBU heads understand the details of the overall strategic plan and how their work connects to corporate goals.
  • Lead the implementation of the strategy of the Bank, focus towards maximizing market share, shareholders’ wealth and increasing profit by translating strategic objectives into practical plans and goals.
  • Provide analytical framework to define and implement corporate strategy at the Group and Bank level, develop strategy maps that incorporates financial, customer, internal processing and employee capability objectives
  • Facilitate SBU Strategy Review sessions, take ownership of decision making that delivers SBU performance, test whether the decisions being made in each SBU are aligned with the strategy and are creating the desired results and decide on basis of outcome analyses, whether to stay on track or to change direction
  • Initiate and drive SBU monthly management performance review sessions, reinforcing alignment between long term strategy and short-term goals to deliver increased efficiency and competitive advantage across targeted markets at SBU level
  • Take ownership of decision making that sustains organizational change, test whether the decisions being made across the organization are aligned with the strategy and are creating the desired results and decide on basis of outcome analyses, whether to stay on track or to change direction
  • Design and develop Company-wide, scalable partnership programs, reinforcing the value map and strengthening linkages to ensure increased efficiency and competitive advantage across targeted markets
  • Provide Executive Management with global and regional business scenarios and ad-hoc analyses as required; identify new business growth opportunities or potential operational risks.
  • Provide analytical and value-added insights to Executive Management on market and business trends, consumer innovation and patterns, financial structure, macroeconomic factors and demographic potentials
  • Direct, synthesize and execute insights gained from market analysis, internal capability assessments, competitor intelligence, customer research, product assessment, and financial analysis and modelling.
  • Present new ideas for growth for the Commercial Banking Group and SBUs through understanding competitive actions and market trends in the industry locally and internationally with strategic intent of influencing and directing management thought
  • Lead the coordination and planning of the annual Board Strategy Retreat event including, making presentations on industry insights to assist the Board in its decision-making function; coordinating presentations of each member of the Management Committee (and relevant SRFs) to ensure appropriate message is delivered to the Board; working with global speaker agencies to book event speakers.

Requirements
Education:

  • First Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Management, Social Science, or any related quantitative discipline
  • Postgraduate degree and/or other professional qualifications are desirable but not mandatory.

Experience:

  •  Minimum of 8 years strategy/management consulting experience in a global consulting firm, or minimum of 9 years functional strategy experience in a reputable Bank.
