1). Associate/Senior Associate, Risk Modelling & Decisioning

Job Summary

  • Flutterwave is seeking ambitious & experienced Risk Modeling and Decisioning professionals to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in enhancing our risk management strategies and ensuring the integrity of our decision-making processes using predictive analytics. This position requires a deep understanding of risk/fraud modeling methodologies, advanced data analytic techniques,  statistical analysis, and data-driven decision-making within the fintech industry.
  • The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing and implementing risk/fraud/compliance models, designing processes, optimizing decisioning systems, and contributing to overall risk management frameworks.

Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in developing and refining analytic models/processes and strategies to assess credit/fraud/compliance risk, and other relevant risks associated with our products and services.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of historical data and market trends to identify patterns and insights that inform risk management strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and product managers, to implement risk scoring models and strategies into our decisioning systems.
  • Monitor the performance of risk models and decisioning systems, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimization.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends in risk management and decision sciences.
  • Carry out analytics activities at all stages of data analytics life-cycle – understanding business needs, explore and examine data from multiple sources, help build workflows for extraction and cleaning of data, conduct exploratory data analysis.
  • Provide analytical support and insights to senior management and stakeholders to aid in strategic decision-making processes.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to risk models, methodologies, and decisioning processes.
  • Participate in audits and regulatory examinations, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Requirements
Required competency and skillset to be a waver:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in risk management, analytic modeling, ML modeling,  credit/fraud scoring, or related fields within the financial services industry.
  • Strong technical skills including proficiency in Python and  statistical analysis and programming languages like SQL.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques and tools for building predictive models (e.g., logistic regression, decision trees, random forests, gradient boosting and neural network).
  • Critical thinking & problem solving skills – ability to assess situations, verify facts, reason logically to come up with options and propose sound recommendations.
  •  Familiarity with risk management frameworks, methodologies, and regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR).
  • Experience developing and implementing analytical models, preferably in a fintech or lending environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality of work.

2). Vice Principal (VP), Tax & Transfer Pricing

Job Summary

  • Flutterwave is seeking a highly qualified and experienced VP, Tax & Transfer Pricing person who will primarily be responsible for ensuring compliance with all statutory obligations in relation to tax and transfer pricing across the countries we operate in in the EMEA region. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for formulating and advising management on strategies that make for efficient business operations from a tax and transfer pricing perspective.
  • The candidate will also be responsible for advising management of developments in the tax space that will impact Group business mode, including review of contracts and intragroup agreements for tax compliance.  He must be an experienced tax professional and self-starter who can work with minimal supervision. He should also be able to identify tax planning opportunities for the Group.
  • This role reports to the Head of Finance, Africa, with close relationship with the Group Head of Tax and TP.

Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Alignment:

  • Identify potential tax planning opportunities for the Group and work with the appropriate personnel of all entities within the Group to implement tax advice rendered to the Group by its tax advisers
  • Review internal agreements within Group entities to ensure compliance with all tax laws and transfer pricing regulations.
  • Review existing transfer pricing policy and advise management on recent changes in regulations that could impact the policy.
  • Review all contracts to ensure tax efficiency and optimization and seek advice from the Group’s tax advisers as appropriate.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments to keep abreast of new business activities and address resulting opportunities, risks and tax consequences.
  • Work with HR to ensure tax compliance with all employee-related taxes and contributions.
  • Work with HR to ensure employees obtain tax clearance certificates.
  • Advice HR from time to time on tax planning opportunities for employees.

Zero-Levy Compliance Focus:

  • Take full ownership of the tax compliance obligations across the Group, including monthly and   annual tax filings (all taxes), transfer pricing filings, tax computations, capital allowance computations, adjustments to accounting profits for tax purposes, etc.
  • Manage all tax and levy risks associated with the Group’s business. This includes NASENI Levy, Police Trust Fund, Industrial Training fund, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund.
  • Obtain annual tax clearance certificates in all countries we operate in
  • Maintain tax balance on general ledger/reconciliation of tax journals
  • Attend to tax audit queries, tax audit exercises, transfer pricing audits, and other routine checks from regulators in relation to tax matters.
  • Attending to any other ad-hoc tax/business related request.

What your first year might look like (This is not a comprehensive list):

  • Build a comprehensive tax and TP compliance calendar, which will serve as a guide and performance measurement tool on our tax and transfer pricing compliance status across the relevant countries. Objective here is to have a living document that speaks to our statutory compliance obligations.
  • Ensure significant reduction in late fling fines and penalties, with the ultimate goal being zero tolerance for missed deadlines and late filing of returns.
  • Revise existing intra-group agreements, including transfer pricing policy, loan agreements and business development agreements, with a view to ensuring minimal tax footprints across board.
  • Enhance the process of tax provisioning for statutory audits purposes, making sure the Company has a sustaining process in place for tax provisioning as part of audit-close activities.

What You bring to the table

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in tax role, preferably with a background with a top tier consulting firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of tax laws in Nigeria and appreciable knowledge of tax laws across Africa.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies, including Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements, automation, and operational efficiencies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex financial data and present insights to senior leadership
  • Experience in leading and managing a team of finance professionals
  • Appreciable understanding of ERP systems
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

3). Senior QA Engineer

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, your primary responsibilities will be bug detection, user satisfaction, design, and executing tests in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the product’s quality and assisting other team members where applicable.

Responsibilities
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be:
Test Strategy, Planning  Execution:

  • Drive the execution of test strategies, including manual and automated testing. Performance testing is a plus.
  • Identify and implement appropriate testing tools and frameworks in collaboration with QA leads to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Work closely with product managers and engineering leads to review requirements, and develop detailed test scenarios and test cases.
  • Ensure thorough test coverage by tracking key quality metrics.
  • Collaborate with other QA members on the team to maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts for your product.
  • Create and maintain QA documentation.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to product quality and testing processes.

Bug Reporting and Tracking:

  • When a product does not perform within specifications or user experience, identify, recreate, and log defects on JIRA while recommending possible solutions and improvements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of defects to identify improvements and prevent recurrence.
  • Verify fixes and perform regression testing to ensure that resolved issues do not reoccur.

Automation and Tooling:

 

  • Work with other senior QA engineers and managers to design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks to increase test coverage and reduce manual testing effort.
  • Integrate automated tests into continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with product owners, developers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and provide QA input during the design and development phases.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and other Agile ceremonies to represent QA interests.
  • Communicate QA status, progress, and risks to project stakeholders and team leads.

Mentorship and Team Development (With Guidance):

  • Collaborate with product management, development, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of QA activities into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Guide the team’s QA members in designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans and test cases.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level QA engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Have hands-on working experience and a firm hold in Java programming language.
  • Experience with Java-based automation frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, Selenium WebDriver, and Rest-Assured.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Proven ability to lead QA initiatives and mentor junior team members in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
  • Experience with performance testing tools is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and experience with tools like Git.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and clearly articulate to stakeholders.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior and mid-level QA engineers.
  • Certification in quality assurance (e.g., ISTQB) is a plus.
