1). Site Surveyor

Location: Lafia, Nasarawa

Reports to: Senior Site Surveyor with a dotted line to the Project Manager

Role Summary

  • Husk is seeking a Site Surveyor to join the growing team in Nigeria. The overall objective of this role is to coordinate field staff in mapping out land boundaries, identification of mini-grid sites in order to create optimal pipelines of sites/villages suitable for the implementation of mini-grids uses, and ensuring that the generated sites meet the minimum site selection criteria.
  • This role requires hands-on experience with engineering instruments and knowledge of GPS and GIS systems. The individual should also be passionate about contributing to solving one of Nigeria’s most critical challenges – energy access deficit. This position provides the opportunity to join a growing team that is changing the face of rural electrification in many countries in Asia and Africa, including India, Nigeria, etc.

Key Responsibilities
General:

  • Support all GIS/site scoping-related activities across Nigeria (and other potential markets).
  • Regularly interact with various internal and external stakeholders for site identification/selection activities.
  • Support the optimization of various Husk NG activities to ensure best practices are entrenched towards more efficient processes.
  • Understand the priorities of the country operations and support the Country team when necessary.
  • Provide requisite support and inputs on building and aligning various company processes and policies according to global best practices.
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

Site Identification and Deployment:

  • Support in defining the site selection criteria for HMG locations with inputs from the relevant team members.
  • Support work planning and the implementation of all site identification tasks.
  • Support the preparation of country-level geospatial analysis and GIS modelling strategy and implement this in order to develop pipelines of viable communities/locations.
  • Support the relevant team in site survey and land acquisition.
  • Support relevant teams in deploying mobile data collection apps for use during field surveys and enumeration activities.
  • Support the management of survey data collection and the application of relevant data sets for site scoping activities.

Business Growth and Support:

  • Ensure support for other Business Units for alignment with site selection/land survey tasks.
  • Work with relevant Business Units to ensure relevant land lease documents, building permits, and other land documentation for compliance purposes.
  • Support business growth and continuous cost & quality improvements in the business.
  • Support in the preparation of proposals, technical inputs, bill of materials, budgets, and technical drawings for the submission of such proposals.
  • Coordinate, maintain regular communication, and develop positive and productive relationships with various stakeholders, regulatory stakeholders, customer/client groups etc.
  • Support communication channels for engagements with all relevant stakeholders during site selection/land survey and other related processes

Required Skills & Attributes

  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience and 1 year of experience in a similar role within the energy/infrastructure/development sector.
  • Graduate from a leading institution with a related degree in GIS/Surveying and other related subjects. Postgraduate degree and/or related professional qualifications, a plus.
  • This position requires an in-depth understanding of GIS/Survey capabilities, critical thinking, and the ability to provide time-bound solutions to the benefit of the company.
  • Excellent skills with QGIS or ArcGIS, Google Earth, Microsoft Office tools and project management tools (MS Project, Power BI, etc)

2). Community Engagement Associate

Role Summary

  • Husk is seeking a Community Engagement Associate, to join the Marketing Team in Nigeria towards achieving its targets. This individual will play an integral role in coordinating progress actions for community engagement activities as the initial point of contact for the communities.
  • You will be required to contribute to engagements for the deployment of HUSK’s mini-grid portfolio, supporting all community engagement activities.
  • The role will directly support engagement across many levels of stakeholders including community representatives, local authorities, paramount rulers, and relevant industry-related stakeholders within areas where Husk is operational and/or intends to site its operations.
  • We are looking for someone with experience in community engagement, stakeholder management and engagement, report writing, and on-ground business development support.
  • We require someone who is a people person and understands the importance of constant engagement for achieving business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
General:

  • Play a key part as a member of the Marketing Team responsible for providing support towards expanding and maintaining project sites’ portfolio.
  • Work with cross-functional teams on engagement activities ensuring that relevant community stakeholder relationships are built and maintained.
  • Support information and data gathering for use by the relevant teams for market intelligence insights within and around proposed minigrid deployment locations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Manage relevant stakeholder relationships within the communities through the paramount rulers, village heads, district heads, VPC, etc.

Regulatory Agency Engagement:

  • Support in providing documentation to ensure relevant regulatory permits (and submissions) are registered and/or applied for in time with regulators and other government stakeholders.
  • Support in maintaining an active information base for all local government agency engagements within Husk operational areas.

Community Engagement:

  • Drive active community engagement with selected communities from pre-development to post-development and a successful handover to relevant teams.
  • Assist the team with developing customer experience strategies for customer signups as well as collections and upselling.
  • Maintain an active database of the minutes and pictures of all community engagement meetings and relevant agreement documentation.

Business Growth:

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Graduate from a leading institution with a related degree in science, engineering, or social sciences. Graduate degree or relevant training or certifications in sales; a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the power or telecommunications or other connected sectors driving economic growth in rural Nigeria, supporting project development, rural development, stakeholder management, and sales support activities
  • Ability to ensure closure for tasks and business initiatives, drawing insights for business growth.

3). Go-To-Market (GTM) Coordinator

  • Proven track record of innovative consumer marketing accomplishments/high-impact results (based on metrics/ROI).
  • Good understanding of consumer insights and primary research concepts and tactics such as home use testing, focus groups, surveys, attitudinal, ethnographic, and concept testing.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines in an independent capacity. To be a self-starter and self-motivator, working effectively with minimal direction.

We seek a highly motivated and talented salesperson for our rapidly developing Nigerian market focusing on territorial sales across Husk sites and potential sites and who will be committed to executing at a high level in a fast-paced environment.
  • The Sales Head will be accountable for the MiniGrids Sales Team’s financial performance in partnership with the Country Director and is required to drive continuous revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities
General:

  • A clearly defined strategic thought process and a continuous improvement mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Hands-on experience in driving sales within rural and peri-urban areas (B2C & B2B)
