1). Senior Security Officer

Location: Ibadan, Oyo

Employment Type: Full time

Duration: 6 months’ renewable

Duties

  • Coordinate safety and security activities to secure/safeguard IITA assets; employees, guests, facility, and other stakeholders on IITA property.
  • Supervise access and egress control to ensure loss prevention.
  • Enforce compliance with safety and security policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Initiate immediate response to emergencies like fire, theft, etc.
  • Coordinate the work performance of the contract security company.
  • Conduct safety, security surveys and risk assessment.
  • Train subordinate’s security professionals (including out-sourced security professionals) in security rules and procedures.
  • Educate staff members on current security situations and participate in the security focal point meetings.
  • Plan security special and high-risk events.
  • Implement an effective fire prevention protocol.
  • Identify, investigate, or resolve security breaches.
  • Liaise with Security Agencies and Head of communities around IITA campuses to enhance security operations in the Institute.
  • Patrol building/campus, ward off intruders and supervise parking procedures.
  • Implement a secure journey management system.
  • Prepare safety and security reports.
  • Perform any other job-related task as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Criminology, Security Risk Management, or any relevant Social Science or related field with a minimum of six (6) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment field.
  • Service in any military or para-military role would be an added advantage with certifications in safety and security.

2). People and Culture Officer (Talent Acquisition)

Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Employment Type: Contract: 3 year renewable

Duties
Requisition and approval management:

  • Follow-up and secure approval for all NRS requisitions to fill approved vacancies
  • Manage the short-term requisition and hiring process, seeking necessary approvals, facilitating selection, and preparing contract letters for all short-term staff and local consultants as may be assigned.

Interview, documentation, and on-boarding process:

  • Assist in placing vacancy advertisements both internal and external on the intranet and internet.
  • Carry out all pre-interview preparation formalities, facilitate interviews and follow up with candidates and interview panel members.
  • Organize and liaise with P&C sectional heads on orientation for new hires.
  • Collate information on new hires and liaise with employee services on background checks;
  • Ensure and follow up with appointed candidates on referees and medical examination.

Report and chargeback management:

  • Collate and prepare monthly recruitment service chargeback for all NRS and STS recruiting activities.
  • Regularly collect and prepare comprehensive reports with inputs from scientists, unit heads, and supervisors for the review of job descriptions and position classification for NRS.
  • Collate monthly recruitment and related statistics for the Talent Acquisition Office report.
  • Constantly update the recruitment requisition tracker and present reports.
  • Assist the Talent Acquisition in contributing to data for annual report information.

Records and Documentation:

  • Maintain effective records (electronic and manual) and ensure prompt retrieval of information for short-term staff.
  • Create personal files for new hires and ensure all mandatory documents are in place, maintaining effective filing system that ensures ease of retrieval of recruitment and selection information.

Liaison with external clients:

  • Ensure payments to vendors for advertisements placed on national newspapers.
  • Liaise with other units as necessary.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor or Head of Unit.

Requirements
Qualifications:

  • B.Sc / HND in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or any other related field with a minimum of four (4) years experience in talent acquisition management with proven experience in contract management and selection in a well-structured environment.

Competencies:
The ideal candidate must:

  • Have excellent interpersonal, multi-tasking, organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
  • Be proficiency the use of human resource information systems (HRIS), recruitment software, and similar digital applications or software’s.
  • Have excellent customer service skills and team orientation
  • Have ability to work in a cross-cultural and multidisciplinary environment.

3). Administrative Assistant

Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Employment Type: Contract (2 year renewable contract)

Duties

  • Assist the scientists and team members with day-to-day administrative processes and functions in concert with East Africa banana program Administrator.
  • Facilitate organization of project meetings/events and travel by assisting with flight and hotel booking, travel authorization, visa requests, travel advances and expense claims.
  • Manage inventories of program assets and supplies and process FMS work order requests
  • Raise and process purchase requisition and follow up with Supply chain and finance to ensure efficient delivery.
  • Maintain project staff records (Staff, consultants, students and interns) and assist with processing contracts and payments.
  • Liaise with PDAU and Finance Directorate and follow-up on timely submission of donor & collaborator reports and payments as scheduled on relevant agreements.
  • Assist with compilation of project and related reports and uploading on designated reporting platforms with support from plantain breeding scientists.
  • Perform all other job-related duties that may be assigned by the program scientists or other senior team members.

Qualifications

  • B.Sc / HND in Business Administration, Public Administration or related field with a minimum of three (3) years experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.

Competencies:
The ideal candidate must:

  • Have excellent writing and oral communication skills in English
  • Be proficient in MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with demonstrated experience with setting up and providing support for online meetings using Zoom or MS Teams.
  • Be well organized, able to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines with keen attention to detail.
  • Have a positive attitude, strong team spirit and the ability to work well in a diverse team.
