Jireh Doo Foundation (JDF) is a National Non-government organization with over 19 years’ existence and actively intervening in the humanitarian response in the Northeast and other parts of the country since 2003. JDF works in the following thematic areas: Improved response to the humanitarian needs of vulnerable people; Improved gender equality and livelihood support for persons at the community level of young persons, men and women; Promotion of prevention and treatment in HIV and other health disease burden (Malaria, TB and Diarrhea); Promotion of protection programs for children and youth in Communities that encourages child development and Adolescent empowerment; Promoting good governance and policies; Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability learning and sharing of information on protection, livelihood support accessible through knowledge and information management.

Title: WASH Hardware Intern

Duties, Responsibilities and Competencies

  • Support in assessing technical options for the provision of water and sanitation facilities in target locations of implementation and other locations of interest.
  • Support in creating designs and bill of quantities based on technical feasibility and community feedback in locations of implementation and other areas of interest.
  • Support in organization supervision and monitoring of constructions and rehabilitations of WASH infrastructures, (With document evidence). Emphasis on community engagement and participation i.e. ensure that community needs are addressed, community is satisfied, accepts and uses facilities.
  • Support Water Quality treatment and monitoring.
  • Support in ensuring that all WASH facilities constructed and rehabilitated by JDF are of good quality complies with Global and regional Sectoral standards. Ensure cost recovery and durability for WASH facilities.
  • Prepare and submit activity and situation reports.
  • Documentation and archiving Means of Verification (MoV).
  • Initiate/raise procurement requests.
  • Carry out any other activity that supports the actualization of the organizations’ vison and mission.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree or its equivalent National Diploma (HND) or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental/Public Health Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology. (essential).
  • Must have graduated from a Nigeria university or higher institution of learning between 2019 and 2024. (essential).
  • NYSC certificate (or Exemption certificate). (essential).
  • Must possess strong written skills, strong organizational skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team. (essential).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Power Point) including the use of emails and online meeting platforms. (essential).
  • Ability to use AutoCAD, Goggle Earth,QGIS,EPANET and other Engineering software (desired).
  • Ability to develop and interpret bill of quantities (desired).
  • Ability to communicate in Hausa and Kanuri (desired).

  • The successful candidate will be a person of integrity with excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Requires a high level of creativity and innovation and the ability to maintain operational efficiency in a fast-paced work environment.
