About the Role

  • Nairagram is looking for a dedicated and resourceful Finance Specialist to join our Finance Department.
  • Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will play a key role in budget planning, financial forecasting, and conducting in-depth financial analyses.
  • This role offers the opportunity for exposure to various finance operations, including treasury functions, and requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Job Description

  • Assist the Financial Controller in budget planning and management activities, including financial forecasting.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial analyses to inform strategic business decisions and identify efficiency opportunities.
  • Prepare financial reports and statements, ensuring timely and accurate communication of the company’s financial position to relevant stakeholders.
  • Gain exposure to treasury functions, enhancing understanding of cash management, investment and debt management, and risk mitigation.
  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
  • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with the Reconciliation to ensure accurate and complete financial records, coordinating regularly to verify transaction data.
  • Depending on organisational needs, may specialise in specific areas such as taxation, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, etc. Responsibilities will adapt to accommodate these specialisations as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related course.
  • 4 – 6 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in payments and/or fintech.
  • You have a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CFA, ACA and experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • You have already been working in an international fast growing scale-up environment with ideally a focus on B2B & B2C financial services.
  • You are highly analytical/data-driven and are comfortable dealing with high growth and complex business challenges.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with a strong ability to work collaboratively with the cross- functional team and individually.
  • Possess good knowledge of successful finance and operations strategies and systems to assure tight controls and sound financial reporting, business planning, and forecasting.
  • You have a strong record in cost and expense management and in improving a company’s overall productivity and profitability.
  • You are excellent at relationship building and engaging with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders.
  • You are known for being a creative problem solver with the attitude that there is no problem that cannot be solved, fixed, or mitigated.
  • You have a “can do” attitude. Owning a problem doesn’t scare you, but rather empowers you to take 100% responsibility for achieving our mission.
