About the Role

  • Our performance ambition calls for us to build the best performing most trusted and respected consumer products company in the world; this requires the right transportation and Warehouse management assets and processes are in place and improved to support GN annual performance of NSV of about £360m and trading profit of £150m
  • The role will drive efficiency across the Guinness warehousing operations and embedding standard processes such as FEFO in other to drive waste/SLOB down.
  • Accountable for inventory management from raw materials to components and other category of inventory. The role is also responsible for fulfilment of customers’ order.

Dimensions
Financial:

  • This role will provide support to the Logistics Operations Manager in leading performance / operations within a total cost budget of about £20m per annual and support delivery of annual logistics cost savings of £2m per annual.

Market Complexity:

  • Works in across all the distribution centres across in Nigeria through own- and third-party logistics service providers to create step changes in customer service delivery to both internal and external customers
  • Handles all external warehouses (depots)  to ensure the delivery of Guinness Nigeria business goals and objectives.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Consistently Deliver Phenomenal Performance – This is a significantly matrixed role.
  • The role holder will work closely with packaging, sales, Brewery logistics and third-party service providers to deliver GN strategic goals and meet / exceed customer expectation

Job Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement warehousing standard methodology in line with Diageo supply chain capability framework in all brewery distribution and depots to deliver driven service.
  • Manage empties and finished inventory to support GN supply chain in meeting customer / consumer satisfaction and to ensure accountability.
  • Play a lead role in the achievement of sales targets and competitive advantage through physical distribution and order fulfilment.
  • Ensure the achievement of all key performance indicators in line with GN business objective in order to drive superior performance.
  • Formulate and implement critical initiatives as well as suitable logistics operations improvement in all distribution centres to enhance GN supply chain efficiency and effectiveness

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree qualification. Master’s degree or equivalent experience is an added advantage
  • Proven experience particularly in physical distribution activities; with a depth of capability in logistics and customer management / process design and development.
  • Ability to take commercial insights and translate into performance to grow the business.
  • Proven track record to persuade, influence and build credibility with all levels and all functions
  • Analytical, interpretative and decision-making skills within a highly dynamic process environment
  • Fully conversant with inventory management processes using SAP systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of Diageo warehouse management standards.
  • Ability to competently coach and facilitate multi-disciplinary teams.

About The Role

  • The Lagos and Benin Breweries produce 1.5 to 1.6 million hectoliters each of various Guinness products per annum and package these products for the local, national and export markets.
  • The packaging department is accountable for the packaging of all brewing products into returnable and non-returnable containers, ready for distribution.
  • The Team lead runs the line during shift production hours and accounts to the Shift manager in regard to leading their team and the department assets.
  • The role is responsible for meeting shift production volumes on the line at the right quality through the technical operators, while achieving targets in a cost-efficient manner.
  • The role is also responsible for the entrenchment of PPM practices in a safe and healthy working environment.

Financial:

  • Supporting the shift manager in effective management of shift variable costs, raw materials, component and utility costs and production, quality, rework and labour cost
  • Responsible for the packaging equipment assets management of their line

Role Responsibiities

  • Supervise and coordinate all activities of technical operators to ensure that products scheduled for line are produced to target volumes and specifications with best possible efficiencies and optimum
  • Supporting shift manager to Control cost of packaging online by minimizing process waste, improving efficiencies and taking appropriate actions to reduce downtime and improve quality.
  • Develop & deliver improved performance against targets through effective problem solving, decision-making and communication between the team members and aligned, planned activity with Operations Improvement Team, Engineering support and Supply Planning.
  • Lead implementation of the company’s health, safety, quality, environment and hygiene standards for the protection of company products, personnel and assets in the packaging environment

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Science or Engineering Degree or HND
  • Should hold an IBG/NSE qualification and knowledge of packaging and WCM techniques.
  • Proven expertise in food or drink packaging environment with a track record of delivering sustainable improvements in packaging efficiency and quality, particularly through effective people management and development.
  • Competency in operating any two of the labeller, filler or bottle washer machines in the packaging line
  • Competency in packaging management and prioritization of resources to meet key targets,
  • Knowledge of Guinness policies is an added advantage.
  • Structured problem evaluation & solving skills and ready to make decisions, take the initiative and originate action.
  • High level of energy and commitment to team based achievement and high interpersonal effectiveness to develop & sustain robust relationships.
