Title: Depot Accountant
Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day financial operations of the depot, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Monitor depot expenses and budgets, and provide recommendations to control costs and enhance efficiency.
- Reconcile depot inventory records with physical counts and investigate discrepancies.
- Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure accurate recording of inventory movements and valuation.
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for the depot.
Requirements
- A minimum of HND/ BSc degree in Accounting from a reputable institution.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as an accountant in a reputable Manufacturing industry is preferred.
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Awareness of business trends
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like QuickBooks and Sage 50.
- Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
- Accuracy and attention to detail
