1). Manager – Commercial FibreCo

Location: Nigeria

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

  • The Manager – Commercial FibreCo is responsible for the development of the various FibreCo costing, pricing and operating models for the Bayobab capacity and services portfolio. They will also be responsible for contributing towards the establishment and implementation of the costing and pricing principles and methodologies. The role will ensure that Bayobab improves on revenues streams by enhancing its competitive position in the wholesale business and international carrier relations business (for wholesale customers, OpCos and GEBU demand requirements) while improving its overall margins on new and existing business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA’s)

The Manager – Commercial FibreCo will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

  • Develop the strategy for optimizing and managing costing framework for Bayobab capacity across Fibreco’s.
  • Develop and implement costing principles that will be applied to set the prices and other charges including price caps, price guidelines and other price controls for the various products
  • Carry out all necessary studies, analyses and cost calculations with the aim of minimizing the cost of international services by developing relationships with 3rd party suppliers and partners in the FibreCo markets
  • Derive the pricing principles based on market trends and market analysis for price benchmarking purposes in order to maintain relevant price books.
  • Align with the various internal teams, particularly the tax and compliance teams in order to manage issues relating to withholding taxes, transfer pricing and ensure full alignment to group policy.
  • Identify the Bayobab submarine connectivity costs and pricing by analyzing the competitive environment from a global perspective and collating inputs from the Fibreco’s on competitive offers received for international connectivity
  • Gather OpCo’s terrestrial connectivity costing inputs, with focus on the wholesale components for backhaul and last mile from the cable landing stations
  • Support in the sourcing of 3rd party connectivity when required, ensuring to meet the target price and quality requirements
  • Provide support to the product management teams on product development and pricing as relates to multi-OpCo and Fibreco infrastructure
  • Ensure connectivity sourcing deals afford optimal benefit to Bayobab and MTN’s clients, considering price, quality, SLAs and speed of delivery

Role Deliverables

  • Operating Model framework for Bayobab capacity and services
  • Costing and pricing strategy of wholesale fixed connectivity solutions (subsea and terrestrial)
  • Support the pricing methodologies for Fibreco’s, Opcos and External partners for all connectivity services
  • Initiate and support Initiatives to improve margins on new and existing services
  • Regular market analysis and price benchmarking in order to maintain relevant price books
  • Constant engagement with Tax and Finance to ensure full compliance on group policies

QUALIFICATIONS

Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

Education:

  • Minimum 4-year Academic Degree (Commerce, BBA, Engineering or Business Science)
  • Post graduate qualification MBA/Masters (Commerce, Engineering, Science) preferred
  • English, French and Arabic (as advantage)

Experience:

  • 5+ years relevant cost modelling and pricing experience in the fixed line international telecommunication industry preferably in carrier business with a good technical understanding as well.

Competencies:

  • Able to work effectively with multiple stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment
  • Strong analytical skills to adequately anticipate demand & provide recommendations for decision making
  • A working knowledge of business practices
  • Knowledge of risk management and business development
  • Ability to identify key issues in a situation and to think creatively and strategically in facing internal and external challenges

2). Manager – Subsea Project Management

Location: Lagos

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Consultant Submarine Cable Projects role will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

  • Project manage the implementation of new submarine cables from MTN point of view to ensure cable is delivered on time and within budget according to contractual specifications.
  • Project manage cross functional teams to deliver infrastructure and facilities such as cable stations, fronthaul, backhaul and other related infrastructure.
  •  Project manage the procurement and deployment of terminal equipment that interfaces to the subsea cables.
  •  Project manage upgrades of existing cable systems.
  •  Prepare management reports on the various projects, their progress status, delivery timelines, risks and mitigations etc.
  •  Ensure effective participation in the required regulatory process to ensure required permissions are obtained for implementation of infrastructure projects and platforms.
  •  Track, support and report on permitting, rights of ways approvals etc.
  •  Support commercial and technical activities related to existing MTN GlobalConnect investments in submarine cables and other JV infrastructure, including managing and monitoring the recovery of international infrastructure investment costs.
  • Support commercial and technical activities related to the investments in new subsea cable and JV initiatives, including building the investment and business cases and supporting the decision on prioritisation of investments.
  •  Manage cable and JV consortia partners and lobby within the cable consortia to ensure MTN interests are accounted for and that decisions taken are in line with MTN GlobalConnect strategy.
  • Ensure that the project plans for new subsea and infrastructure investments are tracking according to the plans to ensure the realization of the business case and MTN return on investment.
  •  Ensure processes and governance relating sub-sea cable and JV activities are effective.
  • Support planning, delivery, contracting and management of international capacity trading, including swaps of submarine cable, terrestrial and other capacity, and connectivity.
  • Assist in financial aspect of recommendations towards implementing strategic changes to subsea cable assets plans.
  • Provide inputs to quarterly analysis of Opco and Group-wide demand forecasts and trends with a view to managing any market and capacity availability risks.
  • Provide ad hoc performance reports, performance scorecard targets and plans related to submarine cable and JV projects, capacity, and business.
  • Participate in subsea cable commercial sub-committees where appropriate.

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators in order to meet all month end reporting deadlines.

Education:

  • First degree in Computer Science, B.Sc. Accounting, IT or any related field
  • Analysis skills, including PowerBI and SQL, are a must.
  • A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA) will be an added advantage.
  • Fluent in English

Experience:

3 – 7 Years’ experience including:

  • At least 2 years working experience in IS environment.
  • Practical knowledge of Computer Programming especially DB, Data warehouse, Business Intelligence, Data Analysis.

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, computer science, or a similar discipline
  • Certifications in any of the following areas are also desirable: Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), ACA, ACCA
  • Certified Member, Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)

Experience:
